Closing the Door on 2017

What a wonderful week it was to be able to stay home, celebrate Christmas with the family, and make plans for the New Year. How did this year pass so quickly? As I look back, I've had more ups than downs, more good health than sickness, more joy than sorrow, and more laughter than tears. It's been a very good year for me.

Others may have had a difficult year. I was reading through some posts on Facebook about how some were so glad 2017 was over. I thought about how there are always trials in this imperfect life: times when you wish things were different, that your pain would go away, or you could get a do-over for something. I will choose not to dwell on those, but rather look to the future. Specifically, I want to look to the future through the lens of God's promises and not the lens of fear.

Psalm 91:14-16 "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation."
