A Day Off

I took a rare, summer day off last Monday because we just needed a day to recharge before school started back. I told my 11-year-old we could do whatever she wanted. "Sleep late." That's the answer I got. She got her wish while I worked a couple of volunteer hours at her new middle school.

I asked my 16-year-old what he wanted to do. "Buy running shoes." He also got his wish. What about me? I just wanted to spend time with the kids. I took them to lunch at a place with outdoor tables. We talked over a variety of topics and spent almost 2 hours doing only that. Perfection! :)

Some days are made to be taken slowly and savored.

Ecclesiastes 8:15 So I commended enjoyment, because a man has nothing better under the sun than to eat, drink, and be merry; for this will remain with him in his labor all the days of his life which God gives him under the sun.
